Poverty
is a social malady. It is one of the greatest enemies to mankind among the
other three enemies to humanity which are Sickness and Disease, War and Terrorism,
Corrupt and Tyrant Government. John F.
Kennedy called these four negative factors Common Enemies to Man. These four
factors have wasted human lives and made existence unbearable. But the truth is
that man was created with ability to solve problems around him. This is one
great capacity humanity was embedded with that have helped us forge ahead in
the midst of these enemies. Human beings around the world are in continuous search
for solutions for these problems. Some Countries and continents have records of
success in solving the problems posed by these four enemies to humanity due to
their deep knowledge and application of know ledge. So, the cure for these
challenges lies in knowledge and wisdom which we must continuously search to be
able overcome these enemies from person to person, family to family, community
to community and nation to nation. And when this is achieved, you will have
great benefits to enjoy as an African.
Meanwhile,
for the purpose of this article, I will dwell on the quick cure for poverty in Africa.
There is no poverty anywhere, a country’s poverty is her ignorance. Any country
that has people has wealth because the human mind is the greatest fertile
ground in the world. If we can develop our minds optimally we will live in
absolute abundance. And I strongly believe that Africa has what it takes to
overcome poverty. Yes, we can. On that note, I want to enumerate the causes of
poverty in Africa and also recommend the quick curative factors we can
collectively apply to overcome the monster called poverty in Africa in no
distant time. I have discovered from my research that the following reason are
the causes of poverty in African countries. Thus:

Selfishness and Corruption: This is simply due to moral weakness.
·
Imbalanced Education System: This is simply causes lack of relevant
knowledge.
·
Lack of technical Knowhow to Convert
Natural Resources to More Valuable Products and Services: This simply causes waste of
raw-resources.
·
Lack of Wisdom for optimal
maximization of natural and human resources: This is simply lack of wisdom which is application of
knowledge.
·
Lack of Impartial Social Welfare
Schemes: This is simply
lack of working support systems.
·
Lack of Creative and Visionary
Leadership: This is
simply lack of wisdom.
There
are many other causes of poverty in African countries but the above mentioned
are the basic causative factors, every other factor is remote cause. When we
focus on proffering solutions to these factors, we will gradually and quickly
cure and arrest the malady called poverty in Africa. It is quite achievable. This
is what the forefathers of civilized nations of the world discovered early
enough by the virtue of knowledge and that helped them to initiate development
in their countries. We can do the same
thing. We have access to the same knowledge they had now by the virtue of civilization
and globalization. We can do it. We can conquer poverty and develop Africa. In simple
terms, there is something we should do and we must start doing it right away
and consistently, we must do it. It is not what we do that makes us succeed, it
is what we do consistently that makes us succeed. In the next article, I will
explain what we need to change and what we need to start doing right away that
will give us quick cure for poverty alleviation in African. We can do it from
person to person and collectively as people. So, look forward for the next
